You have the most powerful tool in history at your fingertips — and somehow the chaos feels louder than ever. That paradox is the starting point of my book, The Stoic Founder’s AI Playbook. AI doesn’t hand you clarity; it amplifies whatever clarity you already have. A vague mind produces vague outputs. A scattered founder gets scattered results.
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and the rest promise to transform how we work, and they can. But the uncomfortable truth is that the quality of what you get out depends almost entirely on the quality of thinking you bring in. Which raises a question the hype rarely touches: how do you become the kind of person whose questions deserve better answers?
Why Stoicism?
For two thousand years, Stoic philosophers practised the art of clear thinking as a daily discipline — focusing only on what they could control, questioning their impulses, and building inner steadiness before outer achievement. The Playbook takes that ancient training and pairs it with the modern craft of prompting. It isn’t a bag of clever templates that will be obsolete by next quarter; it’s a way of thinking that compounds. Technical tricks age fast. Principles don’t.
What’s inside
The book is organised around a set of practical frameworks that turn philosophy into daily practice:
- The Dichotomy of Control Filter — ask AI only about what you can actually act upon, and stop burning energy on the rest.
- The Meta-Prompt Framework (R.C.O.P.O.) — Role, Context, Objective, Process, Output: a repeatable structure for prompts that land.
- Daily Journaling Protocols — build the mental clarity that makes AI work harder for you.
- Virtue-Based Prompting — rooting your AI interactions in wisdom, justice, courage and temperance.
- Real-world applications — brand identity, venture validation, audience empathy, and more.
Here’s the shape of it in practice. Instead of typing “write me a marketing plan,” you first run the request through the Dichotomy of Control Filter — what here is actually mine to act on? — then structure it with R.C.O.P.O.: the Role you want the model to take, the Context it needs, the Objective in plain terms, the Process to follow, and the Output format you’ll actually use. The prompt gets longer. The thinking gets sharper. The result stops being generic.
Who it’s for
It’s written for the ambitious founder who wants more than surface-level AI tips; the thoughtful technologist who senses something missing from purely technical approaches; and the Stoic-curious entrepreneur who wants practical business application rather than abstract philosophy. If you understand that the quality of your thinking determines the quality of your results, this book was written for you.
The bigger idea
Most AI books treat prompting as a collection of tricks. This one treats it as a discipline. The most important architecture, it turns out, happens in the mind — before a single word reaches the model. Get that right and the tools amplify your best thinking. Get it wrong and they amplify your confusion, faster and more convincingly than ever. The Playbook is a manual for the first outcome.
Why I wrote it
I built this from the inside out. As a founder and web developer I use these tools every day, and I kept noticing that my best sessions with AI had nothing to do with clever wording — they came from sitting down clear about what I wanted and why. The Stoics had language for that discipline long before the machines arrived. This book is my attempt to hand it over in a form a busy builder can actually use on a Monday morning.
